1. WELCOME

W
elcome to the January 2007 edition of Talking-To-Animals Newsletter!

Dear Readers,

I want to wish each and everyone of you a most wonderful New Year! The decorations are all put away,
and we are all filled with wonderful memories of the Holiday. The year 2007 has started off with a bang,
weather-wise for most of the country. Further into the newsletter,  you will see a warning about outside
water dishes--important for all this time of year.

People often indulge their pets in toys, strollers, new toys and articles of apparel. I am just as guilty of
these indulgences as anybody else! Our three dogs and one cat all received little goodies at Christmas,
as did the wild birds who frequent our feeders on their yearly migrations South. This year I visited a nature
store close by and got a special feeder that holds niger seed which is considered quite a delicacy by
some of the birds going to their winter homes. So far, not bird has visited it, but I am still hopeful of colorful
visitors soon!

I want to share with you the greatest gift you can give your wonderful pets year-round. For them to be healthy
and happy, we need to lead a harmonious, healthy and balanced life ourselves. Our animals are really
reflections of ourselves. We choose them, on some level, to bring certain qualities we yearn for into our
daily lives. Sometimes this is on a conscious level, sometimes not. Have you ever noticed while visiting
someone's home, it is usually easy to spot similarities in the personalities of the resident animals and
their human counterparts?

Because our animal's love us so completely and desire to make us happy, they often times take on our
own imbalances and the overloads of our daily "stuff." If your pet is feeling anxious or insecure, perhaps
you need to take a look at your own life and schedules and see where perhaps things have gotten out of
hand.

I have worked with hundreds of animals who are having health or behavior  problems. Upon talking to the owner,
I often find that the owner is having similar physical  symptoms or diseases. Our pets are like sponges,
absorbing our worries, fears and problems, usually without our awareness or understanding of the causal factors
related to their behavior or health. Please let me reassure that this is NOT always the case, but happens more
often than you realize!

How are you taking care of yourself? Are you taking time out of your busy day for meditation, praying or centering
yourself? By making time for yourself you are also doing your pet a tremendous favor. I have clients who meditate
or engage in reflective type activities and most of them say when they are being quiet and still, their pets will come
and sit or lie very close to them. Animals are very sensitive to our moods and energy field and will seek us out
when we are calm and at peace.

Flower Essences such as Rescue Remedy or Pink Yarrow can help eliminate stress and help prevent your animals
from taking on your issues and concerns...important for their well-being!

Talk to your animals! Tell them what is going on with  you and how much you love them. They are such good listeners
and never make judgments or tell secrets. They like to feel loved and supported too. Take time to exercise together
if that is appropriate for your pet. Neither we or our animals get enough exercise these days. It is a wonderful,
interactive way to connect with your pet. You will both be more relaxed afterwards.

We can also let our animals be who they truly are. There is always a mystery to them that we will never be completely
able to understand. By allowing them to be who they are, accepting their imperfections and mistakes, we let their
spirit feel safe and nurtured. They are who they are and it is perfectly OK with us.

In closing, the gift of yourself spent in quiet time, loving your wonderful, beautiful animals, being totally at peace with
them is the best investment in your pet that you can ever make -- for both of you.

A loving, wonderful New Year's wish to you and your pets,

Charlene

4. FEATURED STORY: Abbey

Dear Readers,

Here is a story I came across recently.  I enjoyed it very much and
decided to share it with you:

Our dog, Abbey, died Aug. 23, and the day after Abbey died, my 4 year old,
Meredith, was SO upset.  She wanted to write a letter to God so that God
would recognize Abbey in heaven.  She told me what to write, and I did.
Then she put 2 pictures of Abbey in the envelope.  We addressed it to God in
Heaven, put two stamps on it (because, as she said, it could be a long way
to heaven).  We put our return address on it, and I let her put it in the
drop box at the post office that afternoon.  She was absolutely sure that
letter would get to heaven, and I wasn't about to disillusion her.

So today is Labor Day.  We took the kids to the museum  in Austin, and when
we came home, there was a package wrapped in gold on our front porch.  It
was addressed to Meredith.  So, she took it inside and opened it.

Inside was a book entitled "When Your Pet Dies" by Mr. Rogers (Fred Rogers).
On the front cover was the letter we had written to God, in its envelope
(opened).  On the opposite page was one of the pictures of Abbey taped on
the page.  On the back page was the other picture of Abbey, and this
handwritten note on pink paper:

"Dear Meredith,
I know that you will be happy to find out that Abbey arrived safely and
soundly in heaven.  Having the pictures you sent to me was a big help!  I
recognized Abbey right away!

You know, Meredith, she isn't sick anymore.  Her spirit is here with me
(-just like it stays in your heart-) young and running and playing.  Abbey
loved being your dog, you know.  Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I
don't have any pockets to keep things in-- so I am sending you your
beautiful letter back with the pictures--so that you will have this little
memory book to keep.

One of my angels is taking care of this for me.  I hope this little book
will help.

Thank you for your beautiful letter.  Thank your mother for sending it.
What a wonderful mother you have.  I picked her especially for you.

God blesses you every day and remember, I love you very much.  By the way, I
am in heaven and everywhere there is love.

Signed,
God, and one of his special angels (who wrote this letter after God told HER
the words)."

How wonderful is that!  I never knew there were angels working in the post
office!

5.
A FUNNY REQUEST

In the course of my work I receive many email and phone requests.  Every once in awhile I will get one that
strikes me as very funny (although the writer did not intend it to be).  I thought I'd share one such request
with you this month.   Enjoy!

Sent: Thursday, January 11, 2007 3:25 PM
Subject: butt up in the air

Why does our dog put her head down an butt up in the air?

Sincerely,
Pat

---

and here is the warning I mentioned earlier:

WATER DISH WARNING!!!

This has been such a dramatic year, weather-wise that I would like you to be aware that water or food
dishes left outside can be a real problem for your pets. If they go to drink or eat out of metal dishes
and it is very cold, their tongues can quickly become stuck due to the cold metal coming in contact
with a warm, wet tongue. Water dishes can be purchased for just a couple of dollars that are heated by
batteries, eliminating that winter worry. I personally believe that NO PET should be left outside unprotected
in the winter. If you are uncomfortable outside, so is your pet.

6.  NEW PRODUCTS

I always enjoy seeing or hearing about new products that will make your life and your pets lives happier and
easier. Here are two of the most promising new products that you and your pet will enjoy!

Many of the cats that I am asked to work with do not use their litter boxes. There can be many reasons for this,
but the end result is smelly carpets and other household furnishings. And I know this does not make for happy owners!
If your cat is an indoor-outdoor cat and a new cat comes into its territory, this will be enough to start them spraying in
your house. Yikes!! Help is on the way in the form of a new product specifically designed to eliminate cat urine odor.
Zero Odor completely and permanently eliminates urine odor. This product is ideal for multi-cat households, cat rescue
groups and is safe to use around pets and children. It comes in sizes ranging from 4oz. to 66 oz. To order call
1-800-526-2967 or visit their website at www.zeroodorpet.com

For all of us who have dogs that pull when being walked (yes, I do too!) there is hope on the horizon! The K-9 Freedom
Harness is made of nylon and there is a nifty ring on the front of the dog's chest where a leash can be attached. The
three straps are each a different color for ease of fitting for those of us who are all thumbs with these devices. It has
solved the problem present with other front clip harnesses which can be troublesome to properly fit on your dog before
you walk. For information call 1-800-246-6336 or visit www.waynehightower.com. Theree are five sizes ranging frojm XS-XL
and are priced from $20.99-$25.99. Let's walk those doggies!

FYI:
Did you know that the pet industry is the seventh largest retail industry in America?

=========================================================================

Gift certificates: Are you looking for something unique for that "hard to please" pet lover? A gift certificate
for a consultation or a package of consultations for multiple pet households is a perfect gift and eliminates
a trip to the mall! One size truly fits all and there is no expiration date! A single consultation is $95 including
the tape and $165 for multiple pets. Please e-mail me if you are interested in this hassle-free gift!

7.
THE TAIL END

As we look forward to wonderful things in 2007, I would like to take some time in closing this month's
newsletter to remember the wonderful animals that went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2006. As an animal
communicator, I work with many distressed owners who have to make that last final decision in behalf of
their dear pets.I understand what a brave decision you were called upon to make, sometimes without
much time or preparation. I was honored to have been asked to help you make the right decision on behalf
of your pet. Please know that all of us share your loss and the emptiness in your heart. We are reminded that all
of us who deeply love and cherish our dear pets will face the same loss that you experienced at some point in
time. I send to each and everyone of you much love, peace and healing.. Other pets may come into your
lives to share love, and joy and impart their own special lessons, but our pets that are now in spirit, live in our
hearts forever. Due to space considerations, I will not be able to list all pets who we lost last year, but know
that they are loved and cared about as much as the ones that are listed below:
Abbey, Beemer, Maddi, Corky, Goldie, Rosie, Amber, Boo, Pedot, Kody, Einstein, Shadow, Chelsie, Silly Willy,
Sunshine, Goober, Max, Racer, Mitzie, Corazon, Mr. James, Chi-Chi, Bob, Calypso, Marcus, Silky, Rags, Chelsie,
Happy Girl.

Here is a wonderful poem to share with you:

A Bridge Called Love

It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and precious moments
that will always be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.

There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us

It's the bridge that we call love.

I send to all of you much love, peace and healing in the days ahead.

Mission Statement:

"I feel that my primary role as an animal communicator is to speak the truth for the animals. By speaking their truth I am able to share with their owners their unique perspectives and spiritual philosophies. The special bond that companion animals share with their owners is one that is built on love and trust. Through this special relationship both owners and their animals have an opportunity to experience love, trust and mutual understanding. It is the key to all relationships we develop with our pets. As we become more sensitive to our pets, we learn that we are all One, created by the same Divine spirit. Our ultimate goal is to live in harmony and joy with the animals we love and cherish."
